À la rencontre de notre muse

Meeting our muse

As we begin this new chapter of SAOLA, we put aside our original logo and let 's start fresh with a new icon that more accurately represents our brand. Our new logo - a interpretation abstract of the saola 's head - is much more than a simple logo. It represents our reason for being. Let's start again from the beginning...

As we begin this new chapter for saola, we are putting aside our original logo and starting fresh with a new icon that more accurately represents our brand. Our new logo - an abstract interpretation of the saola's head - is much more than just a logo. It represents our reason for being. Let's start from the beginning...

The discovery of the saola is a fascinating story combining science, surprise and serendipity. In the early 1990s, a groundbreaking discovery was made in the dense, solitary forests of the Annamite Range, located between Vietnam and Laos. The saola was unknown to Western science until scientists came across a pair of unusual horns in the home of a local hunter. These horns, contrary to everything that science knew, suggested the existence of an unknown species.

Intrigued and perplexed by this discovery, the team set out to unravel the mystery behind these unique horns. The scientists spent weeks trekking through dense forests and difficult terrain, interviewing local residents and gathering what little information was available.
Eventually, the team discovered a saola specimen.

The discovery of the saola was a significant event for several reasons. First of all, it is rare for a large mammal to be discovered in our time, which makes the saola an extraordinary find. Second, this discovery highlighted the region's rich biodiversity and the importance of preserving its unique habitats. This brought international attention to the region and spurred increased conservation efforts. However, the saola remains critically endangered, with unknown but very low wild numbers. They continue to be threatened by habitat destruction and illegal poaching.

The story of the enigmatic saola, from its discovery to its current state, struck us as both an inspiring story of hope and a grave reminder of the fragility of our ecosystem.
That's why we donate a portion of our profits to wildlife conservation, supporting organizations committed to the rescue, care and reintroduction of animals into the wild.
